The PNG born Segeyaro moved to Cairns at age 7 and played his junior football for the Cairns Ivanhoes. He was then signed by the Rabbitohs in 2007 before returning the north Queensland to play with the North Queensland Cowboys, where he captained their NYC team in 2010. The same year he was selected for the Junior Kangaroos. James made his NRL debut in Round 3 of the 2011 season and went on to play 33 games for the Club. A 2013 switch to the Panthers saw James excel and develop into one of the game’s elite hookers. He had an excellent debut season for the Club playing in every game and scoring 10 tries, before having his breakout season the following year. His explosiveness out of dummy half and creativity was consistently on display as he scored another 10 tries in 25 games, during a successful season for the Club. His year was capped off with the 2014 Dally M Hooker of the Year award. Another solid showing in 2015 saw James called up by club coach and 2015 Prime Minister’s XIII coach Ivan Cleary, to play against his native PNG. A mid season switch last year saw James head over to the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League, where he made an instant impact, lifting his Club of the bottom of the table with 3 straight wins. He scored 7 tries in 11 appearances in an impressive debut season. James has now returned to Australia, joining the sharks for the next 2 seasons.
